AI Food Photo Scanner
Upload or drag in a photo of a meal. Claude will identify the foods and estimate nutrition — you can correct anything before it's added to your diary.
Food-image calorie and nutrition estimates are approximate and may be inaccurate — they are not a substitute for laboratory nutrition analysis. Always review and correct detected items before logging.
Barcode Scanner
Scan a packaged food's barcode with your camera, or type the number in manually. Product data comes from Open Food Facts, a free public product database — no calorie photo-guessing involved.
Barcode lookups query Open Food Facts, a free crowd-sourced product database. Coverage and accuracy vary by product and region — always review the values before adding to your diary. If a product isn't found, you can add it as a custom food.
Hydration
Track your water intake through the day.

Import & export weight data
Bring in your history from another app or a smart scale — WellMate, WeightWatchers/WW, Withings, Fitbit, Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, or any spreadsheet export. Any CSV with a date column and a weight column works; the importer looks for those by name and accepts kg or lb (specify the unit in the header, e.g. "Weight (kg)").
BMI Calculator
BMI is a general screening measure and does not directly measure body composition or individual health.
Body Measurements
Track measurements beyond the scale — many people see progress here before the scale moves.

Profile & Calorie Calculator
Your details power your calorie and macro targets.
Set a target date to see a pace line and whether you're ahead or behind schedule on the Weight page.
Your calculated targets
Calorie recommendations are estimates based on standard formulas and general activity multipliers. If you set both a target weight and a goal date, your Recommended Goal switches to a date-driven calculation (using the common estimate of ~3,500 kcal per pound) and is automatically capped at a maximum safe pace of 2 lb/week loss or 1 lb/week gain — very aggressive goal dates will be capped rather than followed exactly. These are not medical advice — consult a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian for individualized nutrition or weight-management guidance.
Settings
Manage goals, data, and privacy.
Custom macro targets
AI & API configuration
Photo analysis uses Anthropic's API through this app automatically — no key needed. Barcode lookups query Open Food Facts, a free public product database — also no key needed. Both run automatically when you use those features.
Configuration
Just your profile, calorie/macro goals, and preferences — no diary history. Useful for copying your setup to another device or another app, the way you'd export a config from WellMate, WW, or similar programs.
Backup & data
Your data is stored privately for your account and is not shared with other users. Food photos are sent only to Anthropic's API at the moment you click Analyze. Barcode numbers are sent only to Open Food Facts at the moment you scan or look one up. Neither is stored by this app afterward.
SmartDiet Pro provides general nutrition and wellness information and estimates. It is not medical advice and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition. Food-image calorie and nutrition estimates may be inaccurate. Consult a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian for individualized nutrition or weight-management advice.
Guide
A quick walkthrough of everything in SmartDiet Pro.
1. Start with your Profile
Go to Profile and fill in your age, sex, height, weight, activity level, and goal, then tap Save & Recalculate. This is what powers your BMR, TDEE, and daily calorie/macro targets everywhere else in the app. You can override the calculated calorie, protein, or fiber targets any time in Settings.
2. Log food in the Food Diary
Open Food Diary and pick a meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Snacks). You have three ways to add a food:
- Search the built-in database by typing a food name.
- Browse by category — pick a category (Indian, Gujarati, Italian, Fast Food, etc.) then a food from the dropdown; calories are shown right in the list.
- Add a custom food if it's not in the database — enter your own calories and macros.
3. Scan food instead of typing
Food Scanner uses AI to identify food from a photo and estimate nutrition — upload, drag, or paste an image, tap Analyze Photo, then correct anything before adding it to your diary. Every result is labeled ESTIMATED because photo-based nutrition is always approximate.
Barcode is more precise for packaged foods — scan the barcode with your camera or type the number in, and it looks up the real product label via Open Food Facts.
4. Track water, exercise, and weight
Water — tap the +8/+12/+16/+20 oz buttons to log intake; change your daily goal in the box on the right (it saves as soon as you click away from the field or press Enter). Exercise — tap + Add Exercise, choose a type, duration, and intensity, and it estimates calories burned. Weight — tap + Add Weight any time you step on the scale; your BMI and trend chart update automatically.
5. Check your Dashboard and Reports
The Dashboard is your daily home base — calories remaining, macros, water, exercise, weight, BMI, a Balanced Diet Score, and smart alerts, all for the day shown at the top (use the ‹ › arrows to move between days). Reports shows a fuller daily breakdown plus a 7-day calorie trend and is printable.
6. Back up your data
Your entries are saved automatically to your account as you go. In Settings you can also export everything to a JSON file you can keep or move to another device, import a backup, or reset the app completely (both ask for confirmation first, since they overwrite existing data).
On mobile
The bottom bar has quick access to Dashboard, Diary, Water, and Scanner. Tap More (☰) to reach Barcode, Exercise, Weight, Reports, Profile, Settings, and this Guide.
SmartDiet Pro provides general nutrition and wellness estimates, not medical advice. Calorie and nutrition figures — whether from the built-in database, AI photo analysis, or barcode lookups — are approximations.
